The
Legend of Black Hills Gold...
According to legend, during the
"gold rush days" of mid 1870s, goldsmith Henri LeBeau became
lost in the Black Hills of South Dakota and fell asleep
believing he was dying of thirst and starvation. During the
dream, he saw a mountain stream with grapevines growing on its
banks.
Upon awakening, he walked over a
rise and found the stream and grapevines just as he had in his
dream. Out of gratitude, he dedicated his life and talents
to creating jewelry in the shapes of grape clusters and leaves
fashioned in rose, green and yellow gold.
Today, a series of up to 40 steps
are necessary to capture the same dramatic detail in these
traditional and contemporary Black Hills Gold designs.
NOTE: By Federal mandate, Black
Hills Gold must be manufactured in the Black Hills of South
Dakota in order to carry the name Black Hills Gold Jewelry.
It is the design of this lovely jewelry that gives it its name.
These designs are produced in 10k yellow gold. 12k gold
pink accents are created by combining gold and copper alloys and
12k green gold is created by combining gold, silver and copper. |
